I thought I was doing this really good job of letting my youngest daughter go. I was letting her move across the country with out making her feel guilty for leaving me, I thought. Now I find out that I was coming across like I didn't care that she was leaving. Wow! So how do you do this? I guess for one thing we need better communication. I guess being honest sometimes would probably be better.
I've sort of had a heavy heart today. Seeing my daughter struggle with some things sort of gives me an achy heart. Some bad things going on in my nephew's life has weighed heavy on me, both at how bad he must feel but also for my brother and his wife going through it with him. If my heart feels achy when my children are going through tough times, their hearts must really be heavy. Then just hearing so much in the news lately just seems to be so sad. A young man from the area being killed in Afghanistan. I knew a lot of his family from when I was young. My brother who is going through the things with his son was close with the family. So something more to know that his heart has got to be heavy. Then struggles to meet client's needs at work on top of it all. I just felt pretty bogged down today. But when we feel this way there is always one place to go with it all. We have God's promise that he will work all things together for good. We know that he is always with us. He is a great God. One thing I realized at the end of the day today is that I did not get my time in the word and to spend in prayer this morning. I hit the snooze way too many times. Maybe that has something to do with the heavy feeling that sort of hung with me today.
